May I introduce myself :) [Aug. 11th, 2006|08:49 am]
The Lass and Cutlass

A fine community, glad to find it :)
I'm from Russia. I'm not exactly a female piracy fan, I like the sea and the ships etc. But I fell in love with tallships last summer, and some facts came together so that - I started to write a novel about a young captain, Caroline, and her Catalan frigate, "Rose of Sabadell". She's not precisely a pirate, though most people think so.
The story is a serious one, yet mostly psychological, and a bit incredible. It is almost finished, and pretty long, so some of you could read it if you understand Russian :)
I also like the "Master and Commander" movie much, and as for books, I prefer C.S.Forester and Rafael Sabatini :)
I wonder what do you think of "Piratica" by Tanith Lee, friends?
UPD: just forgotten - I'm playing a female admiral from Atlantis in a multi-player e-mail RPG game ;)

I found this community while looking for Celia Rees fan communties after finishing reading Sorceress in one day. I also really enjoyed reading Pirates!, I need to read it again, I think, because it's been a while. :D

I loved PotC as well, actually, I have not met anybody yet who didn't like it. Anyway, this seemed like a really cool community, I'm looking forward to meeting everyone!

Female pirates kick ass!

Hello everyone. >>
I've never posted in here, but I'm writing a couple of Pirate lass stories, and maybe I'll post them up here. ^_^ I've been a member since KD started this awesome shindig.
Which brings me to the real reason for my post:
KD. Finish your Anne Bonney and Mary Read story! >:O!! I really liked those.

That is all.

Challenge I: (Drabbles) Opening lines [Mar. 11th, 2004|11:21 am]
The Lass and Cutlass

At the request of puabi, I bring you the first writing challenge, which is not too specific.

Rules for all Challenges
+ A female pirate must have a primary or otherwise important role. (Duh.)
+ That's it.

Challenge I: Opening lines

Compose a drabble (ficlet of one hundred words) that begins with one of the following lines:

a. "It's not my job."
b. I/He/She never liked seagulls.
c. God smiles upon thieves.
d. "Oh, my God."
e. It wasn't important.
f. The mast fell...

Write as many as you like, I don't care. :)

Ten members, hurrah! Though membership is going up slowly, I'm afraid I've been the only one to post in here. o.o

So - if anyone is out there and paying attention, is there anything you'd like to say? Anything you'd like me to put up?

-Your Captain
